Day 1: Adam's Peak
Adam's Peak is about 128 km away from
Colombo and about 2,243 m high. It is considered as holy mountain of Sri Lanka, and the believers go on a pilgrimage from January to April to the barrier travel temples on the summit of the mountain.
The legend mentioned, Buddha left its foot casting here. The Christians and the Muslims state, the foot casting from Adam would come, when it left the paradies. For the Hindus again it is a foot casting of its God Shiva.
The Pilger begins the ascent often already to the temple at the night, in order to be able to observe in the morning the sunrise.
You will also be able to observe the sunrise, therefore you will already leave in the evening before.
